How I Styled my Olive Green Satin Duster

One of the things I enjoyed the most while I was in Doha, was dressing up for a mild winter. December is the perfect time to visit Doha (and other cities in the Middle East) because the weather is so beautiful and pleasant. I would compare it to a cool summer in Europe, the temperature could range from 14°C- 21°C . So it’s ideal for dressing up in light layers and being slightly more experimental than I can be in Singapore.

During one of my many shopping trips in Doha, I found the most gorgeous Embroidered Satin Duster from River Island. A Duster is a light coat that is perfect for transitional weather. It is usually made of silk or satin and tends to have a relaxed fit. Even though I don’t personally own a lot of pieces in Olive Green, there was just something so special about this particular Satin Duster. I was instantly drawn to the beautiful floral embroidery at the back of the coat.

I feel that this Duster is one those statement pieces that could be worn with absolutely everything. But if you choose to invest in an Embroidered Duster, you must always remember to keep it the focal point of your look. It wouldn’t look right if it were to be paired with another statement piece.

For this look, I wanted the emphasis to be on the warm Earth Tones on the Duster. So I decided to wear a pastel pink top with a pair of dark wash jeans. And to further complement the colour palette, I wore my favourite Tan-coloured accessorises. This is one piece in my wardrobe that I cannot wait to style in many different ways.

I am sure most of you are currently living in more colder climates than me. What are your favourite pieces for the current season?

It sounds like December is a great time to visit cities in the Middle East as I think 40 degrees during summer would basically kill me, haha. That beautifully embroidered green satin duster is seriously so pretty and on my “gotta have”-list. Couldn’t care less that it’s for women 🙂

The embroidery on your duster is exquisite! And you’re completely on point about letting such a statement piece shine through on its own 🙂 It definitely does when you model it! I only wish it could be as warm in NYC or even Japan when we were just there. When it’s cold, I throw all fashion out the window and it’s all about practicality for me. Hence my favorite piece is definitely a good coat! 🙂
