Sometimes I can spend a whole day reorganising my wardrobe (I find it so therapeutic). It’s a great way to remove unwanted clothes, that are cluttering my wardrobe. And on the other hand, I love to get more creative with my favourite pieces and come up with new ways to wear them. So one way to get more creative with your existing wardrobe is to wear items differently. For example, if you have a lot of dresses (unworn that you aren’t ready to part with), another way to wear them is over your jeans. And wearing a Dress Over Jeans isn’t as complicated as it sounds.
The dress that I am wearing below is one of my picks from https://modestyle.com/. I choose to style this dress because I loved its details and fabric; this style is so easy and comfortable to wear. And it flows beautifully when worn. But you can also choose to wear a more structured dress over you jeans in a similar way. One of the most important things to consider when wearing a Dress Over Jeans, is to understand proportions.
For styling this look, I wore distressed skinny jeans because I think they create a unique contrast against the style of the dress. And I added a belt to the waist, to help create a more flattering silhouette. Usually I would wear dresses that have a shorter hem and are above my knee because this proportion works best for my height. But because this dress was a wraparound, it looked great with jeans. Also for my height, I find that when I am wearing a longer dress, I need to wear heels because this helps the outfit look more proportionate. But if I am wearing a shorter dress, then I can wear skinny or cropped jeans with flats, and this is a more casual way to wear a Dress Over Jeans.
Hope this inspires you to wear more dresses with your jeans, if you have any questions you can always email me.
