How to Wear a Metallic Slip Dress

It can be so difficult to keep up with the “latest trends”. Not only are they constantly evolving, but it’s just not financially feasible. So every time I feel inspired to try something new; I make sure that it’s easily adaptable with the rest of my wardrobe. One of the most versatile pieces that has been trending since last year is the Slip Dress. Even though, I was initially hesitant to get onboard with this trend, I am so glad that I gave it a chance.

The possibilities on styling a Slip Dress are endless. I would personally never wear them on their own, because I wouldn’t feel as comfortable in them. But they are perfect for layering; and can be worn through several seasons and easily take you from work to play. Layering with your Slip Dress is so simple and chic. You can mix and match your Slip Dress with cool blouses, sweaters, shirts, and tees. I would try to experiment with all of the above and find the perfect look.

I found the most perfect Metallic Slip Dress from Bershka. Sorry that I can’t find the exact link to this dress, because it was bought in December (but I found something similar on ASOS and Topshop). I thought styling the dress with darker colours, would really work well against the Metallic shade of the dress.  So I layered a Navy Blue Ruffled Top under my dress. I really love the sleeves on this top, its available in four colours at Zara right now. And I’m totally contemplating getting the other colours too. But my favourite part of this look are the Maroon accessories they complement the dress perfectly.

What’s your take on the Slip Dress? I am curious to know, do you find them wearable or are they something you would pass on?

It also took me a while to get on board with slip dresses. I have a couple, but none in silk fabric yet. That style is next on my list. I need to experiment with layering too. You did it perfectly 🙂

I really love the way you’ve styled this slip dress. It’s such a fabulous piece on its own but I love how you made it versatile and practical for everyday life . You look chic and gorgeous!

Beautiful outfit! Love it head to toe. This dress is so pretty and feminine, metallics have become one of the biggest trends during the season. It looks totally chic and sophisticated. They are like neutrals because they go with almost everything.
    Enjoy your weekend!

Fabulous look! I love the slipdress, especially in combination with the bold ruffles from the top! Very classy. And just like you said, I would also feel a bit uncomfortable wearing only a slipdress during the day, but it’s so much fun to layer with!

    Enjoy your weekend! X

I love how you styled the dress! I haven’t been able to hop on board with this trend either. I’m always thinking how great it looks on others. Also love how you paired it with that ruffled top. You’re so ready for spring!

I’ve always had problems with wearing such kind of dresses, they are so underwear-like. Maybe I wasn’t brave enough to do so. But you styled it rather elegantly, I liked it. The only one thing I would change on this look is the shoes, I do believe that high heels will match this ruffled blouse better. But still, you look great!

Actually I never wore slip dress on its own too, for same reasons like yours. I feel extremely naked haha. You did a great layering and love this unique clutch!

I’m certainly with you in the fact that I wouldn’t feel comfortable wearing it by itself. I like the idea of it and always think ladies are so gorgeous that can pull that off but for me I like to layer mine! What I really love about how you styled this is that you didnt go with a basic top! I love that it’s a bit more dramatic of a blouse! It really sets this outfit apart from other similar looks! Also, how amazing are you slides! They are just gorgeous! Great post!

LOVE the metallic slip dress babe!!! I would never think about mixing it with a top but I must say that absolutely love it.
I’m not good at layering outfits but definitely love to see others peoples ideas like this entire look. The ruffles of the top give it such a different and femenine touch that I really love it.

The slip dress and those shoes are just divine. I love how you styled it on top of a t-shirt! It definitely makes it more wearable and day time appropriate! I love how the ruffles just add a whole other level of luxe 🙂

Personally Ive never felt comfortable in slip dresses because of my body shape. I own one but I have never worn it. The metallic of yours is really such a fun detail, and I haven’t seen that many metallic slip on dresses yet! Those shoes are so cute as well.

I adore metallics and am so happy even guys can wear them this season and I for one will be wearing the heck out of them! 🙂 I love the way you styled this slip dress as, just like you said, keeping up with trends can be both costly, but hard to adapt to as well. You styled it perfectly to make it look just like something you’d wear! 🙂
