In the Mood for Comfort Dressing

Being a mother of two young children is so rewarding, but it can honestly be so tiring. At times I feel as if I am running non-stop on their schedules and trying to make sure that we stick to their daily routine. I am sure every mother would agree that it’s the hardest thing to get the children out for school in the mornings. But I personally find that being organised is one thing that gets me through the day. It’s funny, but I’ve always been one of those people that chooses their outfit the night before. This worked for me during university, while I was working and even now with children.

The only difference now is that I see myself wanting to add more pieces of Comfort clothing to my wardrobe. And I really need versatile pieces that can be worn all day long. So every night, I either pick out an entire outfit or I choose at least one piece, that I will wear the next day. One of my favourite Comfort pieces at the moment is the Hyun-Su Velvet Shirt from Pomelo Fashion. This is such a chic and versatile piece, that easily transitions throughout the day and is super easy to style.

In the mornings it’s the perfect piece to make my “I just rolled out of bed” look effortlessly chic. I would wear it casually with joggers, culottes or leggings. But if I were to have a meeting later, then I would quickly go home and dress it up. As I’ve done below, with slightly distressed skinny jeans, statement earrings and my favourite Gucci Mules. Because the style of this top is oversized, I wore it slightly undone and half tucked. And the Gucci Mules complemented the whole look so perfectly by adding an “oomph“. These shoes are such a statement piece and are a must-have for any wardrobe.

On a daily basis, Comfort Dressing is so important for me and I personally feel more confident when I am wearing something comfortable. I’m curious to know, what do you choose first – comfort or style?

The photo where you’re sitting on that lovely vintage car made my day! I love that car (we call it Maggiolino), great color and perfect match for your super comfy outfit! Sometimes I’m in the mode for comfy ootds too, but your version of them is way more stylish! Good job babe! Have a great day

I actually just heard about Pomelo and wanted to see if anyone has purchased from there before! What a coincidence and a good one in fact that you liked the quality and the fit of the shirt you bought. I am all about comfort too and can totally relate to rushing out with kids and also to being comfortable all day. This striped shirt is definitely a versatile piece that looks amazing with jeans, joggers, skirts, trousers, you name it! I love the Gucci heels too, what a perfect combo! xoxo, Christine

Just like you I usually pick out my outfit the day before, right after having checked the weather prognosis for the next day and that’s a good way to reduce stress in the morning. As I try to simplify my life as much as possible that most certainly includes comfort dressing, but comfort dressing is not synonymous with sweatpants or what not. Comfort dressing can be equally elegant as any other trend and that’s just what you showed us here with this wonderful outfit of yours!

Great article!! I agree with you 100% I also was one to prepare everything the night before, because I don’t like to be stressed out the morning.
My children are young (5 and 2) and getting them ready in the mornings also takes time (they need my assistance) so I need to have everything prepared to dress them up and to feed them breakfast and be out the door at 7:45 am. It is so tough! I am in that moment of my life where COMFORT is my top priority, whereas style is right now totally out of my radar, LOL. But I enjoy keeping up with fashion and trends reading blogs like yours!!

Do you have two kids? Seriously? Aww wow, that’s amazing. You look so young!
I absolutely agree with you, being organised is one of the important things, so having a comfort clothing is a must. That shirt is definitely go-to piece, very casual but still very stylish. Also, the Gucci Mules can complete every look and add a nice touch to it. Loving this outfit so much, and your earring are so fab!

Can’t imagine how hard of a job is to a mom. It’s a 24/7 job! But being organized def helps a lot!
I’ve been picking my clothes the night before all my life basically and it’s a game changer in the mornings!
Definitely love adding comfy pieces to my closet as well, especially like this top because they are versatile too!

I’m not a mother at all, but I am seriously all about comfort. I also really want this whole look by the way. I love that top and the jeans are the most perfect denim wash. I love how you have cuffed the bottom of the jeans and the Gucci mules are amazing and so stunning. Still dreaming about getting a pair myself. Comfort is everything and really brings out my confidence too.

I totally get the “roll out of bed” and look put together vibe! I need that more often that I even realize -even with only my son. I’m always running around in the morning helping him get ready, that I need something that I feel and look good in enough to get him to school! Love how you styled it! xo, Jessica

I’m a mix of both! I love being comfortable but sometimes you gotta choose style first. 🙂 I totally feel you though and I don’t even have children yet. I’m always rushing out the door myself and I can barely do that!! You look amazing tho and those mules are to die for!

  15. May 11, 2017 / 7:35 am

Yes! Momlife is hard! I’m lucky that I have my husband to help get my 3 little ones out in the AM. Love your casual look – you totally elevated it with those Gucci shoes (#need) and super fun tassel earrings! My go to is a dress and I’m out the door – who has time to match things up in the morning LOL.

Oh Sara I totally get you in terms of having 2 young kids are tiring lol Trust me at home all I do is wear sweatpants and old t-shirts and nothing glamorous at all!! But this striped button down is super cute and chic and comfy at the same time?! Sign me up!! I can’t get over those Gucci loafers, they are such a luxury splurge but so worth it and makes everything look super chic and elevated.

As a mother of two daughters I understand you very well. For me its harder to get them because I know my limited time is already finished! Unfortunately I can not get dressed in the evening I can say I’m a morning person I look out and dress me I trust in my instinct. I’m also very casual but I always like to give a chic touch to not be too boring 🙂
Your looks are always beautiful, the Gucci loafers I can die for them ?

Comfy, classy and chic. You look really good. I love the Gucci heels with pearls. I had been contemplating on a pair with pearls for awhile now, but haven’t pulled the trigger. lol I am torn between the bag, shoes or going back to Valentino, one of my ultimate favourite brands. 🙂

At the beginning when I first started reading your blog, I had no idea you were a mother of 2, and you look so incredible. I would never had known. You sure can do it all – look good, be organized and have kids. That’s truly special. You’re a supermom!

Great effortless look. I love the half untucked striped shirt. I have those lazy days and wear athleisure or a loose top with ruffles because I don’t have to accessorize much. haha. Love those Gucci mules by the way! Statement pieces like these are so great for carrying you through really simple classics like a tee or simple shirt. 🙂
